San Antonio Rental Properties

Currently thirty-seven percent of homes in San Antonio are rental units. The growth of San Antonio as a city has spurred a rise in new homes being built, and new rental properties as well. San Antonio rental properties are also great opportunities for investment. Many of these homes are duplexes in the older sections of the city adjacent to Interstate 10. These duplexes are surprisingly affordable. A 950 square-foot duplex on Polaris Street, for example, recently went on the market for $38,000. This unit is within walking distance of St. Phillips College, and may appeal to students. Larger duplexes are slightly more expensive; a 1,800 square-foot unit on Bailey Avenue is listed at $59,000.

Four-unit buildings are another large part of San Antonio rental properties. Prices for these building vary depending on location. An older four-plex north of the downtown area on Blanco Road is listed at $119,000 and rents for around $425 per month. A newly refurbished four-plex near Fort Sam Houston is listed at $149, 900. Buildings outside the Interstate 410 Beltway are typically more expensive; a 3,000 square-foot four-plex on Baywood Drive recently went on the market for $165,000. Rents in this building range between $400 and $475 per month.

There are also several large rental buildings for sale in San Antonio. Prices for buildings with more than ten units typically exceed $400,000. An 11-unit building on South Terrell Road, for example, is listed at $450,000 and rents for around $500 per month.
